Christmas Week Weather: Snow, Storms, and Sunshine
Christmas week 2025 brings a wide range of winter weather across North America—from snow-covered roads to clear skies. Here’s a quick overview before diving into regional details:
Snowy Travel Conditions
Snow is expected across many areas of the United States, including the Northeast, Upper Midwest, Lower Lakes, the eastern Ohio Valley, and Alaska—where scattered snow showers and flurries may make traveling a challenge statewide—leading to a chance for a white Christmas.
In Canada, snowy conditions are forecast across most of the country, including Quebec, Ontario, Nunavut, the Yukon (especially in the southern area of the territory), southern Northwest Territories, and in the northern Prairies and northeastern British Columbia.
Stormy and Rainy
Storms and rain are expected in the northern Pacific Northwest prior to Christmas and the Alaska Panhandle, with rain or snow showers across the Intermountain and High Plains regions. The Pacific Southwest will also see a few showers later in the week for the return trip home.
In Canada, showers or snow are likely in Atlantic Canada, southern British Columbia, and northwest to north-central B.C.
Sunny and Pleasant Conditions
Sunny skies and minimal precipitation are forecast for the Atlantic Corridor, Southeast, Florida, Heartland, Texas–Oklahoma, and Hawaii—ideal for smooth holiday travel.
Mixed Conditions
Varied weather shows up in areas like the Deep South, where sunny skies turn to showers, and the Atlantic Corridor—where rain and snow showers give way to sunshine. The Appalachians will start off with sunny skies in the north and showers in the south before snow arrives closer to the holiday, while the Desert Southwest is forecast to get sun and then isolated showers. In the Canadian southern Prairies, early-week sunshine transitions to flurries later in the week.
