Sour Cream Apple Pie

Apple pie is a staple of holiday dinners. In this easy apple pie recipe, you’ll add sour cream, giving the pie a whole new level of delicious goodness. Add a scoop of ice cream for pie a la mode!

Ingredients
1 cup sour cream
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3 to 4 cups peeled, diced apples
1 unbaked pie shell
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a large bowl combine sour cream, sugar, flour, vanilla, salt, and egg and beat well. Add apples and mix well. Pour the mixture into the pie shell and bake at for 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine brown sugar, flour, butter, and nuts (if using) and mix well. Remove pie from oven and reduce heat to 250 degrees F. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture on pie, then return to oven and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
