And when does the 12 days of Christmas start?

I'm always amazed at how filthy it would be to have that many birds around!🤣😂😂 Hopefully they were kept outdoors.
I was wondering “ At what time did the kings visit Jesus following the Star to Bethlehem?” Also, we really don’t know how many kings came; it Bible never says so we just assume it was three because of the three gifts. Something to think about.
An excellent article!! I’m waiting for a partridge in a pear tree 🌲 on December 25!
Are there pear trees in Arizona?
In New Orleans, Twelfth Night is also the beginning of the Carnival season. Most people still don't take down their Christmas trees till after Twelfth Night. We put babies in King Cakes now, not beans, and it's considered bad luck to eat King Cake before Epiphany (it is said to cause rain on Mardi Gras Day). I'm going to pick my King Cake up right now!
I see it starts with 1.Christmas eve, Christmas Day 2., St Stephen, St John, Holy innocents, St Thomas Beckett what is celebrated between these days and Epiphany Jan 6? I didn't see any other day specifically mentioned what or who it celebrates after St Thomas. What did I miss?
Actually, the Wise Men aka Magi did not go to Bethlehem. The Bible states that nearby shepherds tending their flocks did so. However, the Magi (scholars of science, astrology, astronomy, and philosophy; not kings wearing crowns as Christmas cards depict) would arrive to visit them per the book of Mathew at their home (which was located in the town of Nazareth located in Galilee of Jerusalem Mathew 2: 1-2 --- not Bethlehem which was located in Egypt) later when he was a young child (not an infant) to present their gifts. Three gifts are mentioned but the Bible doesn't actually state how many Magi/Wise Men visited and never names any of them. The Bible also never stated that the birth took place in a stable, only that He was wrapped in swaddling cloths and laid in a manger because there was no room at the inn. A manger was something just as likely to be used indoors in homes as well as in outside storage buildings, used by both business as well as households for storage rooms and larders, where it could be used for human food storage (fruits, nuts, vegetables, grains) as well as being used outdoors and in animal stables. The song, Away In A Manger, believed to have been written in the 1800s, is the first written mention of being "asleep on the hay."
A manger is a tray for feeding animals, and is most definitely not an in-the-house item. The Magi went to Bethlehem - Matthew 2:1-12.
According to Biblical archeologists, Christian magazine articles and various ministries, documentaries, etc. : During that period, families frequently lived in a single room that was also used for animals. Many made their homes in and lived in caves. People frequently used the same (usually hand made; self-made) items such as mangers for multiple purposes and they could be found in many different locations. Manger meaning "to eat" applied not only to food for animals, but were used for human food storage also and could be found in their larders (pantries) whether in the actual home itself or an outbuilding used for food storage purpose. They often needed to store what they grew themselves so such outbuildings just for food storage following harvests were not uncommon and less risk of it being eaten by their own or wild animals. The mangers were also used by businesses and shops. Much like milk crates today are used for more than just transporting milk and many other items are used for multiple purposes. The mangers were often made of clay combined with hay then covered with smooth rocks or were carved into nearby stone and outcrops by those who lived in caves and by those who lived in desert areas where wood was more scarce. Those lucky enough to live in areas with a sufficient supply of suitable, sturdy trees tended to make them out of wood -- particularly longer lasting hardwoods, such as oak, which were less to prone to mold and rot than soft woods, better able to withstand everything, and also able to provide better insulation since there was no air conditioning to protect the contents against heat. Not everything could be stored in clay pots; some items required better circulation and larger space, and a more durable, less breakable solution.
It may surprise you to know that the Bible does not specify the number of magi (wise men) who visited Jesus and presented Him with gifts. Culture likely assumed three due to the number of gifts given. (Also, Mary did not ride a donkey into Bethlehem!)
I do remember growing up our tree stayed up until January 6th every year and then everything was put away. I did not know about St. John and appreciate the information.
