What’s Your State Bird?

No one I know in New York has ever seen a bluebird. The only "blue" birds around here on Long Island are blue herons. Even upstate, my cousins and friends have never seen a bluebird; why NY chose it I can't imagine. My husband traveled to VA. to see our daughter and finally got to see a bluebird there. He'd been searching for one for years, being a birder, and was delighted.
Maine's bird must of changed, because they were always the Loon bird for as long as I can remember.
With the vast number of different birds, I expected more unique choices, less repetitive among the states. Very interesting.
