This award-winning recipe—third prize winner in the 2022 Old Farmer’s Almanac Banana Recipe Contest—combines a buttery brown sugar crust with gooey marshmallows and bananas for a simple, sticky treat that’s hard to resist. Perfect for potlucks, family gatherings, or an easy weeknight dessert, these banana squares come together fast and disappear even faster!

Ingredients
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 package (10 ounces) mini marshmallows
4 medium bananas, cut into 1/4-inch slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray an 8-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, softened butter, and brown sugar. Stir until crumbly; press into prepared baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes, then set aside to cool.
  3. In a nonstick saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat and gently stir in bananas. Quickly spread over crust. Allow to cool completely before slicing into squares. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
