French Toast Cordon Bleu

Yum! This hot sandwich, a great combination of breakfast and lunch, tastes as good as it looks! Top it with real maple syrup for the perfect complement.

Ingredients
8 slices ham
4 slices mozzarella cheese
8 slices Portuguese bread or Brioche or bread or your choice
4 eggs
2 cups milk or cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
dash of cinnamon or nutmeg
confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. Make 4 sandwiches with the ham, cheese, and bread. 
  2. Combine eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon and holding the sandwiches together, dunk them into egg mixture, but don’t soak them. 
  3. Grill on both sides until golden brown. 
  4. Dust with confectioners’ sugar and serve with maple syrup.

Variation: Add a slice or two of tomato to each sandwich before you grill.
