Look Up in Thanks: Stargazing and Gratitude with the Old Farmer’s Almanac
Thank you for the laugh!
At Thanksgiving I like to prompt people to state what *unusual* thing they're thankful for--as in, not the generic (but still very important!) "my family, my job, my health" that you always hear. One of my go-tos to start it is that I'm thankful for the moon. Without it, life on Earth would be very different, and we'd have a much more difficult time getting into space!
Thank you Bob. Informative and interesting.
"No longer do I roll my eyes when someone says, “You’re an astronomer? What’s your sign?”"
You should just answer "Schmidt–Cassegrain" - a guaranteed conversation-starter. Might even make a few converts!
(For the uninitiated, it's a very popular and RELATIVELY affordable type of compact home telescope.)
Thank you Bob. I love your column! I am blessed.
Cute column! I am so thankful for you, and all the astronomers who went before you, who generously shared their knowledge, enthusiasm and love of the beautiful 'tent' above! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and the staff and readers of OFA!
