Is Today A Good Day To Fish?

One trick I use often is thread. If I use chicken livers either dried out in the sun or fresh right from the grocery store, cut you a piece of and use some sewing thread from the dollar store. I wind the thread around the liver to hold it onto the hook and I can cast the same piece of liver a dozen times and it never fall off. Don't use good sewing thread, it's too hard to break, the cheapest they have from family dollar works great. Just carry a knife or scissors with you to cut thread off your hook after catching a fish, the was of thread can be stubborn removing from a barbed hook. This also works well when fishing with frozen baits like shad or even shrimp. And the fish don't steal the bait as quickly. If using stink, punch, or blood baits cut a square of cheese cloth,( I save mine from making jelly and just rinse it out and reuse it for fishing), put a glob of bait in that square and close it up and put it on the hook. The bait still leaks out into the water but slowly. Again it needs to be cut from the hook afterwards.
I’m 36 and been fishing since I could hold and cast a pole. I live in wv rite on the banks of the Ohio river. Here the best thing I’ve found to catch fish in general is to have a variety of baits. When I go I fish with 6 catfish rigged poles and have a light bass throwing pole on the side. I always go with at least three different types of baits. Which in include night crawlers which work great they are versatile and can attract any of the several types of fish in the Ohio river. Also go with chicken livers because all three types of catfish can’t resist a good chunk of liver. Then third bait various but the last couple years I found that koolaid chicken breast chunks works best. I just wait for the local Krogers to mark down some sort of chicken breast and grab it. Never pay the full price for this. Anyway I take the chicken cut it into 2inchx2inch cubes put it in a ziplock bag and grab one pack of whatever koolaid u want to try. Personally and red koolaid and orange have down the best for me but I’ve caught cats on all flavors. And almost forgot I do sprinkle just tad of garlic powder or salt but not to much bc it’s always not done great when to much is added. So at least use three different baits. Seems to always work the best for me and with the river u just never know what ur gonna catch. A couple more baits I use is cheddar hotdogs, Bisquick dough balls and of course live fresh caught bass. Hope this helps someone and gl catching this year. As of now my biggest out of the Ohio river was a 67lb flathead catfish caught using a bass head.
i used to go here to find the best days and hours to fish. not anymore in here. nothing shows just month and days without any information
Yes, me too.
I'm now 50 and my granddad said I was born with a fishing pole in my hand best catfish bait I've used here in Tennessee is chicken livers let them sit out for about 3 days and a good hot sun let them farm up then cut them into chunks and place them in a 2 inch by 2 inch square pantyhose. The chicken livers will squeeze out of the pores of the hose and the hose will keep it on your triple hook or single hook.
Wind from the east, fish bite the least. Wind from the west, fish bite the best!
Hey that right there is pretty Kool does that really work???
This may sound crazy but it works , a hook with a wad or ball of nightcrawlers on it then just a spray of WD40. I've seen this work time and time again for catfish.
I am 60 years old and have fished my whole life here in western Kentucky. Over time I have read many various methods for fishing with Liver. The very best method I have discovered to keep liver on your hook is to buy a cheap pair of pantie hose, cut you out a two and half inch square, put your liver in the center, and then pull the corners up until tight around the liver and tie them together. Makes a nice little liver package. The pantie hose will keep it on the hook and as the fish bite the liver will dispense through the hose openings.
I am from Yemen, I love fishing, can I benefit from your experiences?
