The Old Farmer’s Almanac and the country of Canada share a long and proud history. The Almanac began publishing its Canadian edition in 1982 and has always worked to ensure that as much of the materials, production, and distribution as possible stays within the country.
While the Almanac’s editorial and publishing teams work out of the publication’s main headquarters in Dublin, New Hampshire, the Almanac has partners throughout Canada who make sure the book arrives on shelves across the Canadian provinces.
For example, since 2002, The Old Farmer’s Almanac has proudly worked with Tembec Paper Mill in Temiscaming, Quebec. The relationship is essential to the annual printing of every issue—Canadian and U.S.—of the Almanac: The paper provided by Tembec is called “Almanac newsprint” because it conforms to the very specific weight, size, and caliper needs of The Old Farmer’s Almanac. Through 2025, over 10,000 tons of newsprint from Tembec have made all editions of The Old Farmer’s Almanac possible!
Once printed on Canadian newsprint, The Old Farmer’s Almanac Canadian Edition is then distributed across the country by Firefly Books, a Toronto, Ontario-based company that specializes in nonfiction titles for children and adults. The Almanac has worked with Firefly (and its predecessor, Thomas Allen & Son) for over 16 years.
Inside the pages of The 2026 Old Farmer’s Almanac Canadian Edition, there are stories by respected Canadian writers, including articles by Karen Davidson, editor of The Grower; outdoor writer Jeff Helsdon, whose work has appeared in The (Toronto) Star, The Hamilton (ON) Spectator, and OUT of DOORS Magazine, among others; and Simon Thibault, a journalist and radio producer who explores the intersection of food and culture. We also rely on Asiatis, a company headquartered in Montreal, to translate the weather forecasts for our French-speaking readers.
By maximizing its production process and partnerships, The Old Farmer’s Almanac has not had to raise its prices on its titles in several years. We have managed to weather rising costs brought on by inflation and other factors to ensure the Almanac is delivered to its readers exactly as expected—”useful with a pleasant degree of humor,” as coined by founder Robert B. Thomas. Tariffs will likely impact pricing next year, but the latest edition of The Old Farmer’s Almanac Canadian Edition arrives on August 26, 2025, for just $9.99 from Amazon and retailers across Canada!
