Make a Real Snow Cone!

Let’s make some snow cones! This brings back memories of visiting maple sugar shacks as a child. It’s so fun for the young and young at heart!

All you need is fresh snow, a flavoring, and a sweetener to make your own snow cone.

How to Make Real Snow Cones

  1. Take a cup of fresh and super clean snow from your front yard or a nearby park! (Make sure the snow isn’t touching anything else, like the ground or outdoor furniture. Make sure the snow is pure white.) Tamp down the snow down in the cup with a spoon.
  2. Now add your flavoring! Grab some juice or apple cider! Or, how about hibiscus or cinnamon tea (cooled down)? Or, try vanilla extract!
  3. Add 3 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup for sweetness. If you have a squirt bottle, spray it on your cone. Now you’ve made nature’s dessert!

For a twist, you can make “snow ice cream.” Before you add your flavoring, add a can of condensed sweetened milk (or condensed sweetened coconut milk), then mix it all together.

I prefer Whiskey cones. But to quote Frank Zappa; "Watch out where those Huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow".
