Mulled wine is simply a red wine that is sweetened, spiced, and heated. It’s so easy to warm up—in a pot or slow cooker. Who doesn’t like a toasty, fragrant drink on a cold winter’s night? The aroma fills the room!

Use Burgundy, Cabernet Sauvignon, or any other full-bodied red wine.

Note: This is a sweetened drink, however, you may cut back on the sugar if you prefer a less sweet drink.

Double or triple the recipe for more people!

Ingredients
1 orange, sliced and seeded
1/3 cup sugar (or 1/3 cup honey)
2 cups water
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 bottle red wine
Instructions

Combine the orange, sugar, water, and spices in a large stainless steel or enameled pot. Or, use a slow cooker.

Slowly bring to a boil, but then immediately reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Reduce heat again, add wine, and slowly reheat but do not boil.

Serve warm in cups. Garnish with orange slices, if desired.
