This is very similar to how my Mom made iced tea for us in the 60s and 70s, very tasty and refreshing! We always had a pitcher in the fridge throughout the summer and it was a great way to use some of the mint growing next to the back porch :D
I drink my iced tea unsweetened. Just 4-6 black tea bags to 2 quarts of boiling hot water. Lets steep 6-8 minutes. That's it! Yum !
One of my favorite kitchen appliances is The Iced Tea Pot by Mr Coffee. My recipe is 3 bags of ginger or lemon, or a combination, 2 bags black and 2 bags green tea, plus 1-2 tablespoons honey. I brew 1/3 more than suggested by manufacturer giving me about 1/2 gallon. I then brew another quart that I freeze. I use the frozen tea instead of the manufacturers suggested ice. So simple and so good!
Great tea recipe - thanks
I have not seen evidence that tea or oranges contain significant amounts of toxins. I have read that almost all foods contain some toxins but in amounts too small to cause problems. I dont believe anyone's claims anymore unless they site a reliable source.
Don't people have common sense anymore? It's quite obvious many many people can't think for themselves. If you don't think a recipe is right for you, then tweak it to suit YOU. The person , who so kindly shared it, doesn't expect it will be the " be all , end all "of all recipes! Good grief, people!
Thank you, so much for printing "iced tea," instead of "ice tea!"
Common laxity about grammar drives me crazy.
After studying to be a doctor, many new discoveries are shocking and are hard to believe. Black tea is toxic to most people. Oranges are more poisonous than ever imagined.
Just because some plant, vegetable, or fruit contains a good vitamin, it's not necessarily healthful or "life improving". For example, Poison Ivy is loaded with iron, chlorophyll, and many vitamins. It's still a poison! So are oranges, and many other foods people eat to try to be healthy.
Very few people have immunity to the naturally occurring toxins in many common foods.
I don't know about you but I do not know anybody who has gotten out of this world alive. Life span is limited for all of us. Maybe we can prolong it by eating and drinking the so called right stuff. Why should you put yourself under all the stree of worrying about everything you eat or drink. Life should be based on what you enjoy and what makes you happy. So eat and drink the stuff you like the most. There is always consequences for everything. So what!!!
Amen! I get so tired of hearing how EVERYTHING we ingest is going to kill us! Geeze, when I was growing up, I always ate raw cookie batter with eggs, it was a treat! Plus of course I was helping my mom clean up....I used to drink water out of the house and sometimes I still do! Get a life people....
Tea is the most popular beverage we have; it's got to be healthy !!! :)
