This simple recipe turns applesauce into an easy, tasty cake- a wonderful way to celebrate the autumn harvest. We love making it with our fresh, homemade applesauce for a special treat after a day in the orchard.

Fantastic with tea or hot apple cider!

Ingredients
1 cup butter
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups hot applesauce
3 eggs
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons allspice
4 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter, add sugar, hot applesauce, and eggs.
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda, and spices and add to the mixture.
  4. Bake in an 11x13-inch pan for 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees F.
