The Old Farmer's Almanac Family Favorites

This icy-cold Cranberry Dream Pie is sure to be a hit at any table. Made ahead of time and waiting in the freezer, it’s like having an ace up your sleeve.

FILLING

Ingredients
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups (a 16-ounce can) whole berry cranberry sauce
chocolate crust (see below)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in heavy cream and sugar. Blend in vanilla. By hand, stir in the cranberry sauce. Pour into prepared pie shell and freeze.

Let thaw for 15 to 30 minutes before serving.

CRUST

Ingredients
1-1/2 to 2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (crushed Oreos work well)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
2 tablespoons sugar
pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a bowl, combine cookie crumbs, butter, sugar, and salt. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool before adding filling.
