Hi Damaris,

Thank you for your longstanding interest in The Old Farmer’s Almanac. Having loyal readers like yourself is what has allowed us to produce the Almanac for 233 consecutive years and continue the mission started by our founder, Robert B. Thomas, in 1792.

Over the years, different variations of the Almanac (hole versus no hole, different paper stock) have been created. It sounds like the version you got was the bookstore edition, which has no hole and the whiter paper (compared to newsprint). That is the edition that readers get from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million. The edition you should look for with the hole and classic newsprint paper is our classic edition and is available on the newsstand at retailers like Walmart, Target, CVS, local supermarkets, etc. That version does not have the 32-page reference compendium, but the version with the extra 32-page section is also available with the hole at independent book stores, Sam’s Club, and Almanac.com.

The link to purchase through our website store is https://store.almanac.com/farmers-almanac

Thank you again for your continued loyalty to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.
