I live in town, no hillside, and house built on concrete slab. Was thinking of the garbage can in the ground method mentioned in this article. But a garbage can doesn't have any ventilation. How can I accommodate the requirement for ventilation using this method? Can't punch holes in the can as then there would possibly be water or rodent infiltration. Need a place to store root veggies and/or cure meat (wouldn't do both at the same time). Temps in the house are regularly over 70 degrees in our warm climate, no cool place inside.
