My family does things a little different, but it has always worked for us. We don't shuck it at all. We simply gather the corn and put it in paper bags, usually enough for a meal(6-8ears), and put it in the freezer. When you want to prepare for a meal, shuck and silk after it's thawed and cook away! Delicious, tastes fresh!
