For keeping warm in bed - an old fashioned, real goose-down comforter. Also - real wool blankets. These are the things that kept people warm in unheated houses for thousands of years and they still work. When you buy them new they are not cheap, but if you take care of them they can be passed on to the next generation. (Also- my wool blankets came from thrift shops, so if you are a thrifter don't forget to check out the homewares section just in case you might get lucky. It's amazing that people give away perfectly good wool blankets but sometimes they do.)
