I am having a devil-of-a-time growing green onions/shallots. I have been a gardener for years. We moved to the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia 5 year ago and have been plagued with "thrips or onion maggots". We purchased a "live" product that apparently is supposed to eat the maggots. No success. The pest eats the bulb and the top withers, with a failed crop every time. I wonder if you have any suggestions/advice. I can't believe that a simple veg has turned me "inside out" with frustration. TY.
