Hi Susan, your confusion is understandable. I’ve updated our story slightly to illustrate the process a bit more clearly. You are on the right track, except that for multiple digit numbers, each digit is treated separately. So for your January 10 birthday, we’d get 1+1+0+2+0+2+5=11. Because 11 is an exception as a Master Number (as is 22), you have the option of seeing your year as an 11 or as 1+1+2. 

For July 25th, 7+2+5+2+0+2+5=23, then 2+3=5.
