While it is true that the sun collapsing down into a black hole wouldn't alter Earth's ORBIT, the sudden loss of all light and warmth from the sun would obviously have a catastrophic effect on this blue marble. So in your hypothetical scenario, the fact that our DISTANCE from the sun wouldn't change, certainly doesn't mean that our sun becoming a black hole would have no effect.
Not that any of us will be around when the sun finally burns out in its own way, of course; and I do appreciate your efforts to allay some of the fear about having a black hole practically right next door - from a galactic perspective. People have enough to worry about these days!
