Pandora age 16 died 3 weeks ago after being sick for 2 months. She was my companion and slep with me for 11years. We shared a lot of happy time and some not so happy times. I still hurt from missing her. After she died her spirit came back to show me she was alive and well. She stayed for 4 days when I was so lost in my grief at her passing. On the 4th day I told her i loved her and if she needed to move on I would understand if she couldn’t stay. Before that I could see her very clearly but after telling her that the next day her image was a ghostly shadow. I know she is waiting for me and that one day I will be with her again.
She is a Siamese Maine Coon. Every winter she would lick and rip I try and help and snip a little bit with the really sharp scissors and all winter we just take off her summer battle coat.
She would deliberately roll around and get her for all matted up so when she was protecting her dad nothing would get through her thick battle coat cats couldn't get their claws through her coat or teeth. People ask how ?what did I do to help her live so long.
LOT'S OF LOVE
Interesting article. Thank you very much for sharing!
I had to put down 2 of my Kitties last year, one was 19 and the other was 14. BooBear was a grumpy old man, but at 92 who could blame him, he was failing and going potty around the house. Lost a ton of weight and threw up a lot. Buddy was 72, I raised him from kittenhood. He got cancer that a prev vet failed to biopsy a black spot on him. No matter how much I miss them, I know they are waiting for me at the rainbow bridge and we will cross together, until then they are in the meadow playing with the others who are waiting for their human companions. People never understand how painful it is to lose a pet when they become not only a part of your family but like one of your children, you are bonded. Don't let people get you down. Just know there other pet-parents who understand how tender your heart is after a loss. My heart and prayers are with you and your guardian pet angel.
My cat is turning 26 in a week from when he was born. How old will he be. 120?
My oldest cat is still kicking at an assumed 25. We rescued her as a feral stray that was hanging around a friend's barn almost 23 years ago, and at the time our vet guessed she was approximately two. She had been a homebody indoor/outdoor cat most of her life, by that I mean she didn't go far if she went outside, but eventually she stopped showing any interest in the outdoors, and hasn't left the house in about six years now.
She pretty much lives her life in our bedroom, we got her some pet stairs so she can get into the bed without climbing ( her jumping days are long gone) and still follows me downstairs every morning for a few Kittie treats
I bought a pedigree rag doll in 2009.....today she celebrated reaching 11.....not that amazing for a cat to reach that age, but not long after I bought her she started to have seizures, she went through lots to still be here, and has been on medication twice a day since then, costly to me, but it’s kept her alive, no seizures for 14 months, that does not mean they have gone away, we have been at this point before and then she had one, the medication reduces the intensity. She is truly loved and cherished, and a
mummy’s girl....where I am she is.....Happy 11th my beautiful Blue.......didn’t think we would see this one
Omg I’m in tears as I read other people’s posts and Sadly I lost my best friend ever he was my buddy and pal for 19 1/2 Precious years and I truly believe he absolutely understood English as I’d always tell him that me how awesome he was and he fought so hard the week we shared as I also understood he wasn’t ready to say goodbye because he literally followed me and never left my side even though I knew he knew that final goodbye was coming and call me crazy or what but his final night I stayed awake and I told him that it was okay to let go because daddy loves you and will always love you and that I’ll not be mad and that someday I’ll see you again and that’s a Promise!! Omg the tears are flowing..His name was Shaddow... I really just felt a need to share this and maybe it’s a way for myself to heal which at this point seems like I never will because it’s still so fresh and to be honest I don’t think time can truly heal the loss of a best friend, buddy or family member ever!! Thank y’all for giving me a place to share about my best friend Shaddow!!! I Love You Buddy and until we meet again ❤️❤️
I have a cat we rescued at a gas station when she was about 4 weeks old ,she just turned 26 in Sept.2019, She has lost teeth, claws ,and much skin hangs down she has what I call senior moments and eats very good some days other days not so good. Vet said she had congestive heart failure 4 years ago He is shocked when ever he sees her ,says she is in good health for her age He tells her I think your going to out live us all.As i bottle feed her when she was found .I would tell her your one lucky girl And Lucky became her name she has outlived 5 dogs and 8 rescue cats.
This is poor information. Tartar on the teeth is not an indication of age if they have a poor diet or the opposite if they are getting yearly dental care, nor are missing teeth. It's about their diet and overall health and care. Cloudy eyes? MANY conditions cause that, not just age! This kind of bad information just gives people an excuse to not get veterinary care for the cats and just assume it's age related.
