When I first began teaching in the mid 1980s, leading up to May Day, we learned about the various spring traditions. So they made the cone shaped baskets and attached a handle. Those that could brought fresh flowers from their yard and I was able to supplement with a tub full from my house. We chose to place May Day flower baskets to the teachers in our building. It was so sweet to watch a couple students leave a basket on the teachers door knob, knock a couple times and scurry back to where we were out of sight. Fond memories!
