I’m sooo sorry Jim 😞
It’s 5:30 in the morning and Pedro, my 15-year-old feline, just crossed over. He was in my arms the last 30 minutes of his life. Every few seconds, he strained to take a breath. I knew it was the end, as our vet had given us a grim diagnosis 6 days earlier. So I just held him and petted him and told him how much we loved him. While I am calm in knowing he is no longer in pain, that doesn’t stop the tears. It has been a comfort in finding this website when I did.
This past Aug my hubby and I traveled from MA to Sturgis SD on our trike. Our return home was much more interesting, as we were adopted by a 3 mo old kitten. He kept coming to our motel room. Soon he was staying with us. We knew we could not leave him living outside a motel. We bought a carrier and traveled home on our trike with Rapid City Kitty (Raci Baby) on my lap. Raci now lives with our daughter and her family. Oh ya his name is now Dakota. He is just an absolute LOVE!!!
I have a eleven year old orange tabby I rescued from outdoors as a kitten; she recently had an "eye-inflammation"; I put a little fish oil on her eyelids; + and began a vitamin powder; her eyes cleared up;
Our Calli lived to 21 years and 4 months…died Friday the 13th in November 2020 which made her just over 100 human years old. She was my baby…and INDOORS only, which likely contributed to a long and happy life. We have a 13 year old rescue now, which makes her 68 in human years. INDOORS only…and a happy girl!
With good care, excellent food and unending love-kitties can and SHOULD live into their 20’s…
Noire is 16 years going on 17 months. She's adorkable, forever young and whenever I offer her food she says she's stuffed.
I think being plush helps keep her young.
Fuzzy is 17 and will be 18 in September if he makes it. It started out as allergies and by today he has not eating in three days. He is still drinking water occasionally during the day. I had gotten a visit with the vet in a week, but I've already emailed them to see if anyone can see him tomorrow. His breathing at times is terrible and I can feel is rib cage and spinal cord in detail.
Fuzzy and his sister Ana were rescued from a field in Iowa when they were two weeks old. Both were bottle fed until they could be adopted out. I took over their care when they were two because my brother had to move for a job. Ana died last June very quickly. And I think Fuzzy may be ready to go join her and wait for me later. The stories here warmed my heart. I'll miss him dearly if I have to make that decision, but I'd rather stop his suffering than be selfish and keep him around longer than I should.
I adopted a lost cat Daisy in 2009 when she was 1 1/2 years old. In 2011, She had to get surgery on her paw due to an infection, Daisy was a good cat until her death in Jan 2021 due to heart disease, Daisy I miss you soooo much. Rest In Peace My Sweet Angel.
My first cat as an adult was a scrawny black and white female. Boy, did she ever have a strong personality! But she was smart and trained easily. She slept in an Easter basket with a towel in it. On the kitchen bar. I carry a lot of guilt because I was sick when she became ill and couldn't give her what she needed, comfort. I was able to get her help, but it was too late and I had to put her down. I cannot forget the look in her eyes before she passed. It's been seven years. I will love her forever.
