Body
We all dream of packing light… and then somehow bring everything but the kitchen sink. If you’ve ever hauled an overstuffed suitcase across an airport only to wear the same three outfits all week, this list is for you. Before you zip up your bag, take a look at these common packing mistakes and learn what not to pack for vacation so you can travel smarter, lighter, and stress-free.
Expensive Jewelry
If you’d be heartbroken to lose it, don’t bring it. Travel is unpredictable, and simple accessories are safer and more practical.
Original Important Documents
Leave originals like birth certificates at home. To be on the safe side, bring photocopies or digital backups instead.
Leave the shoes that look terrific but feel horrific behind. If they’re not comfortable at home, they won’t be comfortable on vacation.
High-maintenance Clothing
You should be able to wear almost everything you bring for 2 days in a row without having to wash or iron it.
Large Amounts of Cash
With nationwide ATMs, credit cards, and traveler’s checks, there’s no need to carry more than an afternoon’s worth of cash.
Blue Jeans
Jeans are relatively heavy and take a long time to dry if they get wet. Lightweight travel pants are a better option.
Packing less doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort; it means making room for better experiences. By skipping these unnecessary items, you’ll save space, reduce stress, and enjoy your trip that much more.
