Turn Wild Elderberries into a Tasty Syrup
More Like This
Thank you for giving the serving size info. I searched brutality a few other recipes that told me how to make the syrup, but no one said how much could be or should be taken to begin with. I appreciate those two sentences very much. I will be trying this recipe as well. Thank you.
hi. I picked my berries but got to them after they started fermenting. I then added honey and jarred them with a loose lid for 2 weeks.
one jar was only half full. That jar has a whitish mold growing on top.
I put contents or raw berries/honey of a full jat, back into a pot to boil, with some water added, intending to strain the mixture after an hour. Any advice??
I have used a recipe that calls for adding echinacea root to the cinnamon and cloves and ginger when boiling and then adding a small amount ( 1/4 cup) apple cider vinegar when you add the honey. Then they put it in jars and did a water bath to seal the jars. Wouldn't the heating process to seal the jars damage the enzymes in the honey??
How much syrup would you take daily for an immune system boost?
Thank you!
I made it first time no problems- the second time and third time I got mold inside my thin neck bottles.
I dont know what went wrong- but that is heartbreaking that it seemed fermented bottles popped when opened and a bit of mold on the top in the neck. I thew it all away.
Is it the thin neck bottles not getting clean enough though I cleaned them soaked them- you cant really scrub inside.
I will try one more time with jars that I can scrub well and boil----
all b ottles were cleaned and heated but alas all tossed because of the fermentation and mold.
Just berries, water, honey- nothing else. No idea other than the bottles instead of the jars.
Hope you cN EXPLAIN WHAT WENT WRONG. tHANKS
i want to add this to my morning smoothies. Since taste doesnt matter, can i omit the expensive honey? How much should i add per person/smoothie? I also assume i can quadruple the amt & freeze into cubes….?
Can I use dried elderberries?
