Our mail courier was closing our box as well and when I asked him not to he suggested fabric softener sheets. They work like a charm. I found some fabric softener sheets work while others do not (Bounce Pet sheets do not work for more than a week. Although I wonder if it was the rain that deactivated them?) The very pricey Laundry Sauce sheets worked very well for weeks. We happened to have some, otherwise I wouldn't buy them for the mailbox. :)
