I love 'em too! We had a dense patch of them in the deep shade on the north side of our house growing up, and I thought that's what they needed. When we moved to TN, I was delighted to find that a small clearing had a lot of violets in it - dappled sun most of the day, briefly full sun at mid-day. Later, I was even more delighted to find clumps of them all over the property, many in full sun. They bloom in phases, so I spend weeks of the early spring finding happy surprises everywhere I go.
