The author sort of implies that you can grow Asian pears without worry of wildlife raiding your trees. Well, for 3 years in a row Raccoons have raided our Asian pear trees a couple of weeks before we planned to pick them. One evening our 2 trees were full of pears (and I mean full!) and the next morning ALL of the pears were gone!! Something for you folks living in rural areas and/or close to wooded areas to think about. (Yes, they have raided our peach trees too. LOL!!)
