These coloured potatoes roasted with whites and sweet potatoes make for a real eye pleasing dish. A few sprinkles of olive oil, some Montreal steak spice and you are good to roast! I save some from year to year for planting.
I live in Zimbabwe and its my first time to read about blue potatoes. Where can l purchase the seeds both blue, red and Russian banana potato seeds.

I put blue potatoes in the ground (whole) in May. I've not had a single plant come up. Was looking for rotted hulls today July 15. Found some of the blue potatoes I'd planted.
No sprouts, no rot, just the potatoes. Think they'll still sprout? Or were they a worthless purchase?
???
Perhaps you should have chitted them first. ie waited before the shoots sprouted, before planting. I grow in bags, because in the ground it’s difficult to spot any tiny ones that get left over and appear the following year where they may not be in the right place.
That is so strange! Perhaps the seed potatoes were accidently treated with a pre-emergent.
I have several varieties of blue potatoes, including fingerlings - also all red as well as various yellow fleshed ones - round as well as fingerling types. They all taste good! When boiled in skin they retain their colours better and once peeled and served they look very pretty - children love them. the fingerling types tend to be less mealy and make wonderful salads.
